CLINTON – The Memorial Day Parade was held on Monday, May 30. Jim Thompson was the honored parade marshal. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. Read on to learn more about his experiences.

Two weeks after graduating from Clinton High School in 1944, Jim Thompson, volunteer papers in hand, embarked by train in Janesville headed to Milwaukee where he was transferred to the Chicago Milwaukee North Shore Railroad trolley onward to Fort Sheridan, Ill. After spending a couple of days there he was transferred on to Camp Roberts, Calif.
