Children and adults learned about an area watershed at the Lower Sugar River Watershed Association’s (LSRWA) Field Day last Friday, June 24. The event took place at the Spring Creek Bridge and the Oakley Branch along County Highway OK in Juda.

To begin the testing, Dick Tripp, of the LSRWA, explained that over the past five years, he has taken part in over 200 assessments of local watersheds. Some of the things he and other volunteers monitor are turbidity, oxygen levels, and invertebrate life in each stream. “We net a lot of little creatures – we like to call them ‘critters,’” he said.
