On the afternoon of Thursday, July 14, officers of the Brodhead Police Department conducted a four-hour pedestrian safety enforcement deployment on State Highway 11 and 13th Street. The goal was to raise awareness of a motorist’s responsibilities when encountering a pedestrian attempting to cross the street.

Brodhead Police Chief Chris Hughes said the department receives quite a few complaints of motorists failing to stop for pedestrians. “Officer Brian Bennett, using standards set forth by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, created the plan for this deployment.” Hughes said.
