Lady Cardinals beat Orfordville

The Cardinals and Vikings hooked up in a pitchers’ duel as Brodhead walked away with a 3-1 Rock Valley South victory last Tuesday.

Brodhead jumped on the Vikings for three runs in the top of the first. Junior Whitney Gerber fell behind 0-2 in the count but fought back to draw a leadoff walk. Junior McKenna Bump put down a bunt toward third that resulted in a throwing error to first to put runners on the corners. Junior Caitlin Novy hit an RBI fielder’s choice to third to put the Cardinals up 1-0. Senior Ali Rosheisen drew a base-on-balls to put runners on first and second. Senior Michelle Loeffelholz poked a base hit into right field to plate Novy. Parkview starter freshman Remington Stark uncorked a wild pitch with runners on second and third to make the score 3-0. Stark retired freshman Katie Goecks on a ground out to second to end the inning.
