BRODHEAD – Charlotte Janes died July 20, 2015 at Woods Crossing in Brodhead.

She was born in Brodhead, the daughter of Frances (Pinnow) and Lee Hall, in 1924. She lived her entire life in Green County, a proud graduate of Brodhead High School (‘42). She and Palmer “Bud” Janes were married for 44 years; he died in 1995.

Charlotte was a bright and outspoken person who challenged herself to learn, joining the personal computer movement early on. A day rarely passed that a joke or words of wisdom didn’t arrive in our inboxes. An accomplished pianist, her repertoire spanned Beethoven to sing-alongs at Woods Crossing. Charlotte was endowed with boundless energy; she baked, quilted, gardened, sewed, Tai Chi’d. She supported the aspirations of her children and was proud of their studies at UW-Madison; Charlotte doted on her grandchildren and they on her.

Charlotte was an active, lifetime member of Brodhead United Methodist Church and is survived by her daughters Sally (Mike) Fisher of Rochester, Minn., and Susan (Gordon) Ridley of Madison, and grandchildren: Megan (Josh) Kaye, New York City, and Andrew Ridley of Minneapolis. She was predeceased by her husband, her son Tim in 1978, and her sister Phyllis Wallisch.

A funeral service was held at the Brodhead United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 11 a.m. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brodhead United Methodist Church (501 1st Center Avenue, Brodhead, Wis. 53520) or to the Brodhead High School scholarship. The Everson Funeral Home assisted the family.
