CLINTON – Arlene (Kelly) Schulz-Coats, 90, of Clinton, Wis., died peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016. She was born Feb. 18, 1925 to the late George and Bertha (Olson) Kelly in Newark Township.

Arlene graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1942. She married Richard Schulz in 1945 and he preceded her in death in March of 1989.

Arlene married Neil O. Coats in December of 2007. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2015. She was a member of Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church.

Arlene was employed by Fairbanks Morse, Admiral Corp and many Clinton businesses until her retirement. She was active and enjoyed the Turtle Grange Club for 30 years and the Clinton Women’s Club for many years where she met and cultivated many close friendships.

Arlene also enjoyed flowers, playing cards and going out to eat with friends and family. Her smile and general kindness will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Debora (Ron) Torkilson and Jerry (Tina) Schulz; two grandchildren, Ryan Torkilson and Jeremy Schulz; her other step family and many good friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Richard Schulz, her second husband, Neil Coats, her brother and sister in law, Kenneth (Nancy) Kelly.

Arlene’s Funeral Service took place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, at Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, Ill. with Pastor Thomas G. Groth officiating. Friends were received on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Church and again on Thursday at Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment took place at Floral Lawns Cemetery in South Beloit. Memorials may be directed to Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice. Please share a memory or a condolence with the family on our website.
