Susan J. Prien, 74

BRODHEAD – Susan J. Prien, age 74, of Brodhead, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at her home.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1940 in Monroe, the daughter of Coburn and Rose (Lederman) Broughton. She married Henry M. Prien on April 5, 1958 in Monroe. He passed away on Nov. 14, 2002.

Susan was a member of the United Methodist Church, Brodhead. She felt very blessed to have worked on the farm; nine and a half years in Twin Grove Township and 44 years in Decatur Township. She enjoyed baking, especially Scotcharoos, and spending time with family, friends and her great-grandson Henry.

She is survived by her children, Bill (Kristi) Prien, Shane Prien, both of Brodhead, Carmen (Chris) Albright, Abbotsford; siblings, Linda (Glen) Malkow, Carol (Nelson) Malkow, both of Monticello, Mary Ann Christenson, June Klossner, both of Rockford, Ill., Coburn (Marge) Broughton, Brodhead; two granddaughters, Karissa (Ryan) Eckelberg, Lacey (Zach Lightly) Prien; and a great-grandson, Henry.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Walter and Harland.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2015, at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Pastor Pat Soddy officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, April 30, at the D.L.
