ROBERT DAVID OLSEN
Bob was born on March 9, 1938 in Afton, WI, the son of Charles and Blanche (Jones) Olsen.
Bob married the love of his life, Donna Weidman on October 18, 1958 at the Zion United Methodist Church in Juda. They were married for 62 years and have always been active members of the Brodhead community.
Bob was a member of the Brodhead United Methodist Church, Brodhead School board member for 12 years, an avid Brodhead High school sports fan and worked with the boosters for many years. Bob enjoyed mowing, and in years past helping at the fire department. Bob was a huge UW Badger fan and there were only two colors, cardinal red and white. Finally, Bob served on the Brodhead Fire Department for 51 years and served his country in the US Army from 1956-1959.
Bob is survived by his 4 children, David (Connie) Olsen, DeAnn (Kerry) Schlittler, Dawn (Tom) Swanson and Terry (Tony) Peters all of Brodhead; two siblings, Jerry (Carol) Olsen and Carole Riese; three sister-in-laws, Phyllis (Bud) Seibert of Brodhead, Lanaya Jones (Gary Altenbernd) of Beloit and Barb Olsen of Davis, IL; 7 grandchildren, Jordan (Samantha) Schlittler, Bethany (Nick) Jarvis, Garret (Jade) Olsen, Conner (Marissa) Olsen, Caleb (Alissa) Ahrens, Mariah (Trent) Gerlach and Allen (Jessi) Peters and 10 great grandchildren, Makenna and Keaton Jarvis, Leo and Arlo Olsen, Wyatt and Payton Schlittler, Baylor and Chet Gerlach; Madison and Cooper Olsen and one Baby Gerlach on the way and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna in 2020; two grandchildren, Gavin and Jarred Olsen; one brother, Dick Olsen and two brother in laws, Jerry Jones and Art Riese.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in Bob’s memory to establish a memorial fund at a later date.
A visitation will be held at the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the Brodhead United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with a visitation prior from 10 AM until the time of services. Burial with military honors will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery.
