The lady Cougars put their all into eight games since end of April

Theisen’s big day propels Cougars past Bigfoot

Ashley Theisen drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Clinton Cougars past the Bigfoot Chiefs 6-5 on April 25. Theisen singled in the third inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fifth inning, scoring two.

Bigfoot opened the scoring in the second after a dropped third strike scored one run.

The Chiefs added one run in the third. Kynell laid down a sacrifice bunt, making the score 2-0.

The lady Cougars made the score 3-2 in the bottom of the third after Theisen singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

Clinton committed an error, which helped Bigfoot tie the game at three in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cougars broke up the tie when Theisen doubled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Jordi Morrison followed to extend the lead to 6-3.

Wolf hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh for the Bigfoot.

Theisen earned the win for Clinton. They surrendered four hits and five runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking none. Kynell took the loss for Bigfoot. They went six innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, striking out 10 and walking two.

Theisen and Allie Bell were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Cougars while hitting back-to-back. Miranda Dahle stole two bases.

Wolf set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Chiefs with two hits in four at bats. Wolf and Klamm each stole multiple bases for Bigfoot. Bigfoot stole six bases in the game.

Clinton misses in tough game against Juda/Albany

Clinton had trouble keeping up with Juda/Albany in a 10-2 loss on April 27.

Juda/Albany opened the scoring in the first after Myah Johnson singled, scoring one run.

The Cougars took the lead in the top of the third inning after Bell doubled, and Theisen singled, each scoring one run.

Juda/Albany took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Alana Durtschi grounded out, the Cougars committed an error, and Anna Bartels singled, each scoring one run.

Juda/Albany scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Theisen induced Durtschi to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Johnson singled, scoring two runs, and Phoenix Homan singled, scoring two runs.

Avary Briggs earned the win for Juda/Albany. They gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking one. Theisen took the loss for the Cougars. They went six innings, allowing 10 runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out 12 and walking one.

Theisen and Bell were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run the Cougars.

Johnson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Juda/Albany with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Johnson and Anna Bartels each collected two hits for Juda/Albany.

Cougars fall after strong showing By Palmyra

The lady Cougars couldn’t keep up with Palmyra and fell 18-0 on April 27.

Palmyra opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two doubles. They first got on the board when Palmyra player #21 doubled, scoring two runs.

Palmyra added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Clinton committed an error, Palmyra player #21 doubled, #17 singled, and #9 singled, each scoring one run.

Palmyra scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Palmyra player #8 tripled, scoring one run, #21 doubled, scoring one run, #18 singled, scoring one run, #9 singled, scoring one run, and #23 singled, scoring one run.

Palmyra player #10 earned the win for their team. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Bell took the loss for the Cougars. They went four innings, giving up 18 runs (14 earned) on 20 hits, striking out two and walking two.

Bell led Clinton with one hit in two at bats.

Palmyra amassed 20 hits in the game. Palmyra player #21 and #17 were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected four hits for Palmyra. #21 drove the middle of the lineup, leading Palmyra.

Theisen puts on strong contact performance as Clinton takes win over Beloit Turner

Theisen collected three hits in four at bats, as Clinton defeated the Beloit Turner Trojans 8-6 on April 29 – the first time they’ve beaten that team in three years. Theisen hit a home run to center field in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

The Cougars were the first to get on the board in the first when Theisen homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Emma Bue tripled, which helped the Trojans tie the game at two in the bottom of the first.

A single by Genna Brown gave Beloit Turner the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the second.

Clinton jumped into the lead in the top of the third when Theisen doubled, scoring one run, Karlee Morris singled, scoring one run, and Addison Mueller homered to center field, scoring two runs.

The Trojans tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth thanks to two singles. Beloit Turner tied the game at six on a single by Autumn Meris.

The Cougars captured the lead, 8-6, in the top of the sixth after Grace Wilson singled, and Ella Roehl laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.

Theisen earned the win for Clinton’s team. They allowed six hits and six runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Lauren Wells took the loss for Beloit Turner. They went three innings, surrendering six runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one.

Addison Mueller collected two hits for the lady Cougars in three at bats.

Genna Brown, Kamryn Clark, Sammi Schleis, Emma Bue, Maddy Hoenig, and Meris each collected one hit for the Trojans. Brown, Clark, Bue, and Meris each drove in one run for them. Hoenig stole two bases. The Trojans stole five bases in the game. They didn’t commit a single error in the field. Clark had the most chances in the field with nine.

Brodhead Cardinals squeak by Clinton Cougars in pitchers duel

Both teams were strong in the circle on April 30, but the Brodhead Cardinals were just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory over Clinton. Theisen started the game for the Cougars and recorded 18 outs.

Theisen struck out 12 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also allowed four hits and three runs over six innings while walking none.

Brodhead opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to two errors. They first got on the board when an error scored one run.

The Cardinals scored one run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run to left field by Sophia Leitzen after a 8-pitch at-bat.

Ava Risum earned the win for Brodhead. They allowed four hits and one run (zero earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out 15 and walking none.

London Winch led the Cougars with two hits in three at bats.

Sophia Leitzen led Brodhead with one run batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day.

Strong showing from both offenses in Clinton’s loss to Johnson Creek

Bats were blistered on May 1, but the Cougars couldn’t quite get the job done against the Johnson Creek Bluejays and lost 22-11. The Bluejays collected 19 hits, while Cougars had 13.

Both teams exchanged the lead back-and-forth in the game, but Johnson Creek eventually took the lead for good thanks to a home run in the fifth inning.

Clinton got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bell singled, Mueller hit into a fielder’s choice, and Wilson doubled, each scoring one run.

Johnson Creek jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Fincutter singled, scoring one run, and Kvalheim homered to center field, scoring three runs.

Bell singled, which helped the lady Cougars tie the game at four in the top of the second.

The Bluejays took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Finncutter singled, and Fincutter tripled, each scoring one run.

Kvalheim hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third for them.

Bell homered to center field, which helped the Cougars tie the game at seven in the top of the fourth.

Johnson Creek took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Fincutter doubled, Benz doubled, and Benz scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

Clinton captured the lead, 11-10, in the top of the fifth when Morrison singled, scoring one run, Bell doubled, scoring one run, and Winch doubled, scoring two runs.

The Bluejays flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring 12 runs on nine hits to take a 22-11 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Fincutter that drove in two.

Bell took the loss for the Cougars. They went four and one-third innings, giving up 22 runs (13 earned) on 19 hits, striking out one and walking six.

Clinton accumulated 13 hits in the game. Bell drove the middle of the lineup, leading them with six runs batted in. They went 4-for-4 on the day. Theisen, Wilson, and Morrison each collected multiple hits.

Johnson Creek tallied 19 hits in the game. Fincutter drove the middle of the lineup, leading their team with seven runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 5-for-5 on the day. Bringowatz and Fincutter each collected five hits for them. Fincutter and Kvalheim hit multiple home runs. Finncutter, Benz, and Kvalheim each collected multiple hits. Johnson Creek had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Altreuter and Kvalheim led the team with two walks each. Bringowatz and Kvalheim each stole multiple bases for the Bluejays. Johnson Creek stole five bases in the game.

Beloit Turner Trojans take down Clinton Cougars a little at a time

The Beloit Turner Trojans kept adding on runs in a 7-0 victory over Clinton on May 2.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the first after Kamdyn Davis homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Beloit Turner added one run in the second. They scored on a passed ball, making the score 3-0.

Maddyn Saunders earned the win for the Trojans. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Theisen took the loss for the Cougars. They went seven innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on nine hits, striking out 14 and walking none.

Miranda Dahle, Morris, and Wilson each collected one hit for Clinton.

Davis provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Beloit Turner with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Sammi Schleis, Emma Bue, and Kamdyn Davis each collected two hits for them. Bue stole two bases. They turned two double plays in the game. The Trojans didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kamryn Clark had the most chances in the field with eight.

Powerful pitching performance from Theisen carries Cougars past Cheesemakers

Theisen was dominant in the circle, as they rang up 14 strikeouts in the Cougar’s 4-3 victory over the Monroe Cheesemakers on May 3. Theisen gave up six hits and three runs over seven innings while walking none.

Bell collected three hits in three at bats in the win. She singled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first inning.

Monroe got on the board in the first inning after Olivia Feller singled, scoring one run.

Cougars took the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third thanks to singles by Bell and Wilson.

Kaegan Paulson took the loss for the Cheesemakers. They went six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking four.

Number nine hitter, Alexis Herbst, showed the depth of Monroe’s lineup by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Olivia Feller and Chesney Slotten each drove in one run for them. Monroe stole six bases in the game. They didn’t commit a single error in the field. Sophie Golembiewski had the most chances in the field with eight.
