Theisen leads Cougars past Cambridge Bluejays

Ashley Theisen was dominant in the circle as they rang up 19 strikeouts in the lady Cougar’s 4-0 victory over the Cambridge Bluejays on May 14. Theisen allowed zero hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking none.

Clinton opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to two sacrifice bunts. They first got on the board when Addison Mueller laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring two runs.

Saveea Freeland took the loss for Cambridge. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out 11 and walking four. Kylie Goodendorf led their team with one run batted in. Addison Mueller, Brielle Kohls, and Allie Bell each collected one hit for the Cougars.

Cambridge turned one double play in the game.

Clinton falls to Whitewater on walk-off

A walk-off left Clinton on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to the Whitewater Whippets on May 14. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the eighth when an error scored one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Whitewater’s pitchers struck out eight, while Clinton sat down 12.

The Whippets got on the board in the fourth inning after an error scored one run.

Theisen doubled, which helped the Cougars tie the game at one in the top of the sixth.

Theisen stepped in the circle first for Clinton. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and two runs (zero earned) over seven and one-third innings, striking out 12 and walking none. Savannah O’Neal opened the game for Whitewater. The lefty gave up five hits and one run over eight innings, striking out eight and walking none.

Theisen went 2-for-3 at the plate as the number three hitter led the team with one run batted in.

Taiya Kolb drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Whippets with two runs batted in. Paige Kollwelter led them with three hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. O’Neal collected two hits for their team in four at bats. Whitewater turned one double play in the game.
