John M. Fields, 77 of Brodhead began his journey with God on January 24, 2025. John was born on March 4, 1947 in Chicago, IL to William Fields and Marie Michaels.

John started his career as a firefighter in Chicago before transferring to the Schaumburg, IL fire department. In 1973, while working as a firefighter, John was able to buy his dream farm in Wisconsin where he raised his family. John retired from the Schaumburg Fire Department in 1991 at the rank of Captain and then continued to improve the farm he had built. A few of the many words that describe John are kind, outgoing, generous, and humorous.
John is survived by his loving wife, Ganaa, children, Jacqueline Fields, William Fields, Shannon Kahl (Aaron), Scott Fields (Angie), Grandchildren, Keltsie, Kaytlyn, Ryan, Conner, Jackson, Gracie, Jacob and his seven great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents and his six siblings.
John loved his farm, life, and making people happy. As a dedicated Christian, John was known to commonly hand out St. Christopher, and St. Gerard metals to random members in the community. Everywhere John went, he left a positive impression. John’s biggest passion though was making sure his family was taken care of. John also loved music and enjoyed singing karaoke.
At the request of John, no services will be held and the family will host a celebration of life event at a later date.
John will be deeply missed by so many that knew and loved him but his memory will forever be in our hearts because after all, “Time Marches On.”
