Phillip R. Rundle, 70
BRODHEAD – Phillip R. Rundle, age 70, of Brodhead, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1944 in Monroe, the son of Milo and Clara (Bredeson) Rundle. His first marriage was to Carla Swiggum. She passed away in 1982. He married Mary L. Popanz on Aug. 19, 1983 in Brodhead.
Phil was a member of the United Methodist Church, Brodhead and taught at the Brodhead Middle School for 36 years, retiring in 2001. While teaching, he also coached the middle school boys and girls basketball teams, and also was involved with high school wrestling.
He served on the Brodhead City Council, was past-president, also served on many other committees, including the Public Safety Committee, and was a board member of the Brodhead Water and Light Commission.
He enjoyed traveling, bowling, being outdoors and doing yard-work, antiques – especially tractors and cars, hunting, four-wheeling, was an avid Packer and Badger fan, mentoring kids, but most important to Phil was his family.
He is survived by his wife Mary, Brodhead; a son, Justin (Liz) Rundle, Menomonee Falls; a daughter, Robin (Kalen) Marsden, Monroe; two sisters-in-law, Rosie Rundle, Pleasant Prairie, Wis. and Rose Rundle, Monroe, and many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and two brothers, David in 1986 and Myron in 1988.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Pastors Neil Swiggum and Pat Soddy officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead.
