New fire engine in production
By Siara Schwartzlow, Editor
The Brodhead Fire District’s new Engine 1 is currently being built at Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton. Delivery is expected in mid-July.
The Engine 1 will be replacing a 1988 Mack Pumper that lacked sufficient safety features to keep the fire district in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). “It is a milestone reached for Brodhead Fire,” said Tony Zimmerman, lieutenant and training officer with the Brodhead Fire District. “We are in need of a new truck [because] the old ones are wearing and starting to show their age. When the call comes in, we need the peace of mind that all equipment is in top shape and ready to go to provide the best service possible to the citizens we serve.”
