Police stop 30 motorists for failing to yield to pedestrians
On the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 17, officers of the Brodhead Police Department conducted a four-hour pedestrian safety enforcement deployment at 1st Center Avenue and 21st Street. This intersection was targeted due to heavy pedestrian traffic and the increased traffic due to the State Highway 81 construction detour.
Even after the department conducted a similar deployment in July, complaints continued of motorists failing to stop for pedestrians, according to Police Chief Chris Hughes.
