Robert “Bob” Larsen, 85, of Janesville, Wis. died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at Agrace Hospice in Janesville surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 20, 1931 to the late Roy W. and Rosie (Schultz) Larsen in Beloit.
Bob attended grade school at Hickory Grove School in Bradford Township and graduated from Clinton High School, class of 1949. Bob completed his education at UW-Platteville.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950 and completed his basic training at Fort Riley, KS. Bob remained there training other troops until his deployment to Korea in April of 1952. He was a master sergeant in Company F, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division.
Bob returned home in April of 1953 and was honorably discharged in June. He re-ceived many metals during his service in Korea includ-ing the Combat Infantry Badge and most recently, (2009) the Bronze Star with V for Valor, which was pre-sented to him by Congress-man Paul Ryan in Janesville, Wis.
Bob started farming in 1955 on his father’s farm north of Clinton in the Town of Bradford. On July 21, 1957, he married his loving wife, Marilyn Kitzman, at Pella Lutheran Church in Clinton.
The two of them remained on the farm where he lived for his entire life of 85 years. Bob was the first resident of the Town of Bradford to be elected to the Clinton Fire Protection District.
He was a lifetime member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clinton and served as a council member for many years. Bob was also a member of American Legion Post 440 and the VFW Post 10430.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Larsen; his two daughters, Debra (Greg) Burk of Me-nomonee Falls and Linda Miller of Janesville; his son, Robert (Jodie) Larsen Jr., of Appleton; his grandchildren, Amanda Burk, Mieke Miller, Adam and Abbey Larsen.
He is further survived by his sister Norman Kaecker of Flagstaff, Ariz. and his brother Duane (Helen) Lar-sen of Rockford, Ill. and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Clarence and Gertrude Kitzman and his son-in-law, Rick Miller.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rudisill and Dr. Taveras of the Beloit Clinic as well as Dr. Green and Agrace Hos-pice for the care and compassion over the years and final days of his life.
Bob’s Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 300 High St., Clinton, Wis. with Rev. Gary Schockman offici-ating. Friends were received on Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Brian G. Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Pkwy., Beloit from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Thursday at Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Internment with Full Mili-tary Burial Rites will follow in the Clinton Cemetery. Memorials to Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, Clinton or Agrace Hospice, Janesville. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Larsen family on our website.
