Ash tree attack in Brodhead

Do I have your attention? I hope so because there are a few things you need to know, and those of you who have ash trees on your property need to start making plans.

The Emerald Ash Borer is quickly moving through Brodhead and the surrounding area. For the next two to four years, ash trees will be dying in large numbers.  Let me answer a few questions you may have.

How do I know if the Ash Borer is affecting my tree?

There are a few different signs, but the most obvious signs are marks in the upper canopy where woodpeckers have knocked off small areas of bark while feeding on the Borer.  The upper canopy starts to die off first, so this spring, you will see less leaf growth in the upper canopy.

What can I do to stop it?
