Music in our schools Suzanne Calhoon

“The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make beautiful children” – Cheryl Lavender. This is my favorite quote about music education. My name is Suzanne Calhoon, and I am the K-5 music teacher at Albrecht Elementary School. This is my 14th year teaching here in Brodhead. Prior to this experience, I taught for 16 years in the Cuba City Community Schools, where I taught K-12 vocal music, including their elementary, middle, and high school choirs.

I live in Brodhead with my husband Dan, who taught vocal music at Brodhead High School and Middle School for many years. He is the founder of the Guys & Dolls Show Choir, as well as the In the Spotlight Show Choir Invitational. We have three children who all graduated from Brodhead High School.
