Several Decades of a Family Farm

A presentation titled “Seven Decades of a Family Farm” will be given at the Brodhead Historical Society monthly meeting on Monday, June 26, at 7 p.m. at the Bank of Brodhead. The public is welcomed to attend.

Daniel Smith grew up, and later farmed for 30 years, on his family’s dairy farm in northwestern Illinois. His presentation, Seven Decades of a Family Farm, reveals through photos, text, and stories the changes a family farm goes through over time.

Thousands of Midwestern farm families share the Smith farm’s journey as society, farming, and familieshave changed. The story of the Smith family farm is, in microcosm, the story of agriculture in our region.
