Open Meetings law often stymies residents

Not everybody goes to a city council or village board meeting to complain. But if they are not aware of state Open Meetings Law, and most municipalities’ interpretation of it, they will definitely leave with a grievance.
Brodhead resident and Senior Center client Roberta Moe cited the Open Meetings Law as the source of her frustration, as it grants broad privileges regarding the public’s right to be informed of agendas and meeting minutes, and record public meetings.
