New facility is taking shape

BRODHEAD – Thanks to the efforts of more than 25 volunteers, Cardinal fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a new concession and restroom facility at the high school football field starting with 2015 season.

Members of the Brodhead Sports Boosters, a volunteer organization within the Brodhead School District, have worked to tear down the old facility and rebuild a new, expanded facility complete with updated handicapped accessible restrooms. This is new facility will be used for athlete events including cross country, track, football, baseball, and softball.

According to one of the organization’s directors, Valerie Wymer, plans to up-date the facility have been in the process for several years. “Brodhead is known for having one of the better concession stands in the conference,” she noted. Wymer also pointed out that although the building is under construction, donations toward the project are still welcome. Wymer also stated that the new facility should be completed in time for the fall sports season.

Anyone interested in helping defray the costs of the concession stand-bathroom project may send their donations to: Brodhead Sports Boosters, P.O. Box 42, Brodhead, Wis. 53520. All donations will be appreciated. A plaque listing volunteers and contributors will be placed in the building when construction is completed.

Brodhead’s Sports Boosters organization has helped district athletes in the past by purchasing volleyball nets, wrestling mats, scoreboards, a pitching machine, a discus cage, pole vault pit, sod for the baseball and softball fields, paid for concussion testing for athletes, and has provided bussing to state events. The Sports Boosters also present a $500 scholarship each year to one male and one female graduating from Brodhead High School.
