Brodhead resident AJ Hawkinson is hoping to brighten local spirits with rocks like these, painted with charming colors and positive messages, throughout Brodhead.

With Easter just around the corner, you may start seeing pops of color throughout our town, hiding in a bush, in clump of grass, or up a tree.

Do not be misled into thinking these are Easter eggs. Upon a closer look, they might just be the inspiration you need that day in the form of a painted rock and not an Easter egg. The rocks are the work of Amber Hawkinson’s initiative, “Brodhead Rocks” an effort spawned by an idea she had to celebrate her birthday.
