Rep. Loudenbeck receives Gathering Waters Policymaker of the Year Award

MADISON – Rep. Amy Loudenbeck (R-Clinton) was honored last week by Gathering Waters as one of their Policymakers of the Year.

Rep. Loudenbeck, along with Assembly colleagues Rep. Joel Kitchens (R-Sturgeon Bay) and Rep. Todd Novak (R-Dodgeville), were selected for their work on the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program in the state budget. Together they worked with members of their caucus and other interested parties to negotiate a compromise to restore the program.

“Representative Loudenbeck sits on the powerful Joint Committee on Finance and took the lead on natural resources issues in the state budget.

“Rep. Loudenbeck engaged with a wide range of stakeholders including land trust leaders in her district. She studied the details of the Stewardship Program and initiated a productive dialogue with her colleagues, working hard to find a compromise with fellow members of the Joint Committee on Finance.

“In her role, she was instrumental in the outcome of the state budget” said Mike Strigel, Executive Director at Gathering Waters.

Gathering Waters: Wisconsin’s Alliance for Land Trusts is a statewide land conservation organization founded in 1994 to strengthen Wisconsin’s private non-profit land trusts.

Through technical assistance, outreach and public policy advocacy, Gathering Waters helps land trusts, landowners, and communities protect the places that make Wisconsin special.
