Brodhead pushes back referendum Council OKs appointee, money for Pearl Island project

Brodhead city officials had to scrap plans for a November levy increase referendum after the city attorney advised that state statute would not allow such a measure on the November ballot.
On June 21, Brodhead Common Council members had approved a referendum question asking for permission to exceed the tax levy limit by $250,000 per year in 2022, 2023 and 2024 to fund increased operating costs and to fund a city administrator position.
