Upcoming Brodhead school referendum part of statewide trend. American Rescue Act funds help local districts cope with pandemic
Brodhead voters are now among six early Wisconsin school districts set to decide referendum measures in 2022 following a board vote last week.
More districts around the state are sure to join them, as complex state formulas limiting spending approach a 30-year anniversary that’s made referenda routine in Wisconsin.
If the April 5 referendum passes in Brodhead, it will allow the district to exceed state revenue limits by $1.75 million each year for three years on a non-recurring basis. That would help Brodhead’s elementary, middle, and high schools maintain district facilities and programs into 2025.
