Andrew M. Svoboda, age 61, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford. He was born August 13, 1962, the son of Arthur and Jean (Davis) Svoboda. He graduated from Parkview High School in 1980. In 2005, he united in marriage with his wife, Stacy, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Brodhead.

Andrew was a life-long elevator technician, retiring from Schumacher Elevator Company in 2021. He enjoyed welding, blacksmithing, gardening, and antique tractors. Andrew was a true craftsman. He took great pride in helping those around him and supporting his community any way he could, but nothing compared to the joy he felt from spending time with his grandchildren. Andrew was often referred to as all of his grandchildren’s’ favorite person on earth. They spent countless hours together; cooking and baking bread, tending to PopPop’s large gardens, playing outside and taking frequent golf cart rides, testing out homemade toys, and enjoying trips to the zoo and the Rock River Thresheree.

Andrew is survived by this wife, Stacy of Brodhead; daughters, Sidina (Cody) Schee of Orfordville and Allegra (Malcolm Bowers) Rowland of Milwaukee; grandchildren; Ember, Mileaux, Kairi, and Aurelia; siblings, Benjamin Svoboda of Orfordville, and Mathew Svoboda of Monroe; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Peter and Tom Svoboda.

A Celebration of Andrew’s Life will be held at the American Legion in Orfordville, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary, 824 Church St, German Valley, IL 61039. Everson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
