Bonnie Joyce Lewis, 91, of Brodhead, died on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Agrace Hospice in Janesville.

She was born to the late Albert and Harriet (Keller) Notty on Feb. 5, 1931.

She attended Oakley School and married Chester Lewis on May 3, 1975 in Senneca, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death in 2008.

A lifelong resident of Green County, she was a true “farmer’s daughter” who loved being outdoors gardening, bird watching, or playing with her beloved cats… her companions up until her admission to assisted living.

She was a hard-working woman who demonstrated a devout work ethic in all she did. Whether working on the farm throughout her childhood and early married years, working as a factory worker at Swiss Colony in Monroe or Prent in Janesville, or with husband Chester in their HVAC business. Her hard work and commitment to whatever she did was commendable, according to loved ones.

She is survived by her six children: Roger (Kenyln) Walmer of Monticello, Carole (Dennis) Thompson of Janesville, Fred Walmer of Janesville, Raymond Walmer of Juda, and Kathy (Dennis) Goecks of Juda, and Marcia Walmer of Almogordo, New Mexico; eight grandchildren: Tara Daly, Chris Parmer, Michael Walmer, Teagan Gumbel, Jessica Robichaud, Brad Goecks, Chad Goecks, Adam Walmer Reddy and four great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her eldest sister, Eva Arlene Hawkins; brother, Myron Albert “Bud” Nolty, sister Vivian Lois Krause, and sister, Betty Jean Nolty, in infancy; son-in-law, Richard Parmer, and daughter-in-law, Julie Walmer.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday March 17, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brodhead with Pastors Darin Wiebe and Tom Kreis officiating.

Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the church. Everson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Her family would like to thank the following organizations for making Bonnie’s last days and moments on this earth both peaceful and meaningful: Azura Assisted Living in Beloit, where she spent her last days, and Agrace Hospice of Janesville, who provided exceptional measures to ensure comfort during her last days.
