Mayor Doug Pinnow addressed the loss of the $500,000 community development block grant for a new senior/community center at the March 19, 2019 City Council meeting.

The referendum question remains on the ballot, but will change to an advisory referendum.

Pinnow played a pivotal role in planning and securing a $500,000 grant for the proposed Senior/Community Center. The planning started in 2014 when the city engineer approached Pinnow about the possibility of a $500,000 matching grant for a senior center. The Senior/Community Center committee chose to renovate the old fitness center on 23rd Street into a new senior center
