Brodhead-Juda Cross Country teams take first in season opener

Girls prevail over Evansville

A young star, Freshman Madelynn McIntyre, announced her presence to Cardinals’ cross country fans while a veteran, senior Michael Hatter, secured a title in dominating fashion at the Brodhead Invitational last Thursday. The girls’ squad won the title with 44 points, edging Evansville by two points while the boys team took the crown with 36 points.

“We ran strong front to back and that was good,” coach Curt Gratz said. “We had a lot of seniors on varsity last year. I wasn’t sure how we were going to do, but we had underclassmen step up today. That’s what it takes to stay towards the top.”
