On Tuesday, Feb. 21, at approximately 8:22 a.m., police received a complaint of a suspicious vial found on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of 1st Center Avenue. Upon examination, police determined the plastic vial to contain a yellowish-white, powdery substance.  Based on the markings on the vial and the color of the powder, the substance was tested and determined to be methamphetamine. The vial contained approximately a half a gram of the drug.

Brodhead Police Chief Chris Hughes states he was thankful that the citizen who found the suspicious item contacted police before a child came across the vial. “The location where this vial was found is in close proximity to where children and teens walk frequently, due to its proximity to a fast food restaurant, a convenience store, the Brodhead Library, a daycare, and the high school,” Hughes said.
