Lady Cards pick up Regional win
Last Tuesday, the Brodhead girls’ basketball team found themselves set up to make their postseason run. After completing the regular season with an overall record of 15-7, the Cards put themselves in a position to host a home playoff game for the opening round of the division three regionals. For their matchup they would host the Richland Center Hornets, who came in as the ten seed after going 7-15 on the year. Brodhead held the upper hand as the seven seed on their home court.
The Cardinals appeared to a bit in shock as the first half began. With such a youthful team, many of whom were participating in their first postseason experience, there is no question there were some nerves in the air on that Tuesday night. Brodhead lost one of their leading scorers in Abbie Dix to foul trouble very early in the first half. Without Dix on the floor, it forced Coach Kammerer to rely on some of his bench players to step up and fill in for her.
