The Cardinals (5-4) were determined to continue their historic playoff streak on Friday night, and that’s what happened. Brodhead-Juda came out on fire in the first half to propel the Cardinals to a 30-21 victory over East Troy and punch their ticket to the playoffs for a 26th straight year.

“I’ll be honest with you. I’ve said this to the kids; the streak is great for the fans and for everybody else but one of our goals was to get into the playoffs this year so that’s what we’re looking at,” coach Jim Matthys said. “The biggest thing is I’m happy for the seniors that we have right now that worked their butts off and earned themselves another week and got themselves into the playoffs. It wasn’t easy for them to do. This is the second division three playoff team that we’ve beaten this year, so we’re not a bad football team.”
