It was 90 degrees and humid just before kickoff on Aug. 27, but the weather was not the hottest thing in Brodhead, as the Cardinals football team is off to a scorching start in their 2021 campaign.

Despite transferring to a new conference, the Southwest Conference, Brodhead-Juda was set to face off with two opponents from their former conference, the Rock Valley Conference, to start the season.

These early season, out-of-conference matchups were supposed to be a test of the Cardinals’ abilities in 2021.  They would make quick work of both week one and week two opponents, however. After toppling the Edgerton Tide 39-0 in week one, the Cards carried that momentum right into week two when they hosted the Evansville Blue Devils on Aug. 27.
