Forty percent of Brodhead city voters turned out last week to cast ballots in the election for City Council and a non-binding referendum concerning a future city administrator.

Seventy-four percent of the ballots cast voted “no” on the creation of a city administrator. Of the 650 votes cast on the referendum, 484 voted “no” and 166 voted “yes.”

City officials brought forth the question on the April 5 ballot asking voters if they favor the creation of the position and an increase to the tax levy limit in order to fund it.
