CLINTON — Clinton’s forestry officials invite area individuals with poetic inclination to create an original poem expressing the virtues of trees.

Entries will be judged and its author at Clinton’s Arbor Day ceremony will present the winning poem on Saturday, April 30. Students and adults are urged to participate.

To qualify entrants must first contact Art Bushue at (608)-728-2347 for contest details and then create and submit their original poem to the Clinton Village Clerk’s Office, P.O. Box 129, Clinton, Wis.. 52525, by noon, Thursday, April 14.

The winning poem will be then selected based upon its conveying superior expression of the virtues of trees, having 16-36 lines of verse, being in acceptable poetic form including a title and the poet’s name, and, be interesting to the public. All entrants will be immediately notified of the results.

The winning poem’s creator will receive a $25 award from the Forestry Board at Clinton’s Arbor Day ceremony. The winning poem will be submitted to The Clinton Topper newspaper.

It will also be retained for posterity in the Forestry Board’s archives and be subject to be published in state and national forestry publications at the Clinton Forestry Board’s sole discretion.
