Clinton Kitchen Pie Brings in $300 at Kiwanis Radio Auction
By Mary Ann Inman, REPORTER
It`s true! An anonymous donor paid $300 for a single pie from the Clinton Kitchen. The hometown restaurant has established a long time reputation for its pies. Rave reviews have been passed on by word of mouth since the owner Connie Farrell started working there as a teenager. Over the years, many celebrations, ad hoc meetings, and heart to heart conversations have taken place over the delicious pies baked daily (starting at 4 a.m., long before the restaurant opens at 7 a.m.). Beyond this amazing bid, many other donated goods sold for way more than listed value. Saturday’s Clinton Kiwanis Club’s Radio Auction held at Town Bank was a huge success. Kiwanis Club of Clinton has concentrated efforts on community youth programs, scholarships and academic encouragement. The money raised from the Radio Auction, will go towards the following: scholarships to graduating seniors (now $3,000 to $4000 annually), academic awards to students in grades 7-12, sponsorship of Badger State Boys and Badger State Girls students, a multitude of school programs such as Sixth Grade Camp, Washington D.C. trip, Evening with the Arts, Band, Musicals, Camp Invention, and Clinton Youth Sports Programs including youth basketball, youth soccer, youth football, youth baseball and CHS leadership breakfasts.
The Kiwanis also give to other service organizations such as SMILES, Clinton Community Outreach, Friends of Carver Roehl Park, Pelishek-Tiffany Nature Trail, Clinton Public Library, Stateline Literacy Council, Clinton Historical Society, Clinton Fire Department, and VetsRoll. The Annual Nut Sale profit is always directed towards a local service organization, typically the Clinton Community Outreach or historically the Hands of Faith Homeless Shelter. This year the profit is going towards the newly formed Rock County Resource Center.
The club also supports Kiwanis’ Camp Wawbeek with donations and gives to the International Foundation with donations to the Eliminate Project to battle maternal neonatal tetanus worldwide.
This list does not include many other projects of the past, and is only part of what the club is currently been supporting! Proceeds from the auction will help the Community.
