Cougars fall to Big Foot on walk-off
A walk-off left Clinton’s Lady Cougars on the wrong end of a 2-3 defeat to the Big Foot Chiefs on April 6. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the tenth when an error scored one run.
Both teams were strong in the circle. Big Foot pitchers struck out 10, while Cougars sat down 19.
Cougars got on the board in the first inning after Ashley Theisen doubled, scoring two runs.
Big Foot tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to an error, and a walk by Kynell.
Theisen started the game for the Cougars. They allowed three hits and two runs (zero earned) over nine innings, striking out 19 and walking one. Kynell led things off in the circle for the Chiefs. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) over 10 innings, striking out 10 and walking five.
Theisen provided a pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Clinton with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day. Theisen and Jordi Morrison each collected two hits for their team. The Lady Cougars had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game.
Number eight hitter, Walter, showed the depth of Big Foot’s lineup, by leading them with two hits in four at bats. Hummel and Paulsen each drove in one run for Big Foot. Lily stole two bases. Big Foot stole six bases in the game.
