Donna Jean Appleman, 73, Oconto Falls, passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan. 17, 2023, at home, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 9, 1950, in Monroe to Chester and Bertha (Cleaveland-Kopplin) Lewis.

She grew up in Brodhead, where she attended school, later graduating from Blackhawk Technical College with a business degree.

She married Joseph Kundert and they had a son Daniel.

On Nov. 18, 2006, she married Stephen Appleman in Hawaii.

The couple lived in Monroe before moving to Oconto Falls 22 years ago.

Together, they enjoyed traveling to European countries, taking tropical vacations and cruises.

As an avid camper and boater, she enjoyed socializing with all people and becoming fast friends, especially in Door County.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles.

Survivors are her husband, Stephen Appleman, Oconto Falls; one son, Daniel (Valarie) Kundert, Oconto Falls; three grandchildren, Christian, Daniel Jr., and Naomi Kundert; one sister, Beverly (Darrell) Pelikan, S.C.; special aunt, Anna Miller, Albany, Wis.; special uncle, Robert Cleaveland, Freeport, Ill.; special cousin, Teresa Crawford, Calif.; brother-in-law, Ronald (Kathy Shupe) Appleman, Marshfield; nephew, Capt. Brad (Nicole) Appleman, U.S. Navy, Italy; special friend, Rosalie Clark, Brodhead; her three kitties, Kallie, Susie, and Snowball; many cousins and area friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Evan and Nellie Appleman.

Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles until the time of service.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating.

Burial will take place 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, in Greenwood Cemetery in Brodhead.

Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is assisting the Appleman family.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Unity Hospice, 2366 Oak Ridge Circle, DePere, Wis.  54115.
