ELAINE J. STEINER

Elaine J. Steiner, 77, of Brodhead passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023. She was born Feb. 24, 1946, the daughter of Richard and Adeline (Strupp) Earle. Elaine was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. Elaine married Edward Payne and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1980. She went on to marry Gerald “Puss” Steiner on Sept. 7, 1985 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2016.

Elaine tended bar at Bluff View and worked for Power Clean, both in Brodhead. She was a barrel racer in her younger years and was an active league golfer and bowler; she also loved to shoot pool. Elaine also liked to make people laugh and tell her jokes. She will be dearly missed.

Elaine is survived by her son, Jon (Elizabeth Stelzer) Payne; grandson, Caden Payne and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Cathleen Hyatt, Roberta Earle and Elizabeth Kuhnle.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023 at DL Newcomer Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 1 p.m. Burial will take place in Avon Cemetery following the service. To extend online condolences, please visit: www.dlnewcomerfuneralhome.com.
