Exchange student

Fatema Alsaffar came to Clinton from Bahrain. She was very excited to be able to experience the culture in the United States, to learn about the traditions and customs here as well as to share her traditions and customs with the people of Clinton. Fatema stayed with the Debbie and Dennis Roach family.

Fatema found many differences between school and community life here and in Bahrain. She feels that courses in the United States are easier and polices are more lenient. In Bahrain, she was required to complete more complex projects and tests than here. Finals in Bahrain count as 70% of the students’ total grade, but here it is only 15%. She stated that the attitude toward education in general in Bahrain is more serious than here.
