Friends rally to honor memory of Jodi Thompson

A memorial project is underway in honor of Jodi Thompson, who passed away on Nov. 14. Through a website, GoFundMe, several of Thompson’s friends have been raising money to plant a tree and install a bench along the trail in the Pearl Island Recreational Corridor in her memory.

Lisa Bartelt, friend of Thompson for over 40 years, began the project. “I was thinking of doing something for Jodi since I was told she had brain cancer. I wanted to do something to keep her here since we really didn’t know if we would always have that chance,” she said.
