JOYCE JOSEPHSON (GASS)
Edgerton/Brodhead, WI – Joyce Josephson (Gass), age 85 passed away on November 6th, 2023 while at home in Edgerton.
Joyce was born on September 25th, 1938, in Taney County, Missouri, the daughter of Lester and Irene (Maple) Gass. She married Richard “Bud” Josephson on July 25th, 1957 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Richard married Joyce after 20 days of dating, before he shipped back out of port.
Joyce enjoyed doing puzzles, shopping and going to the casino. She worked most of her life as a housewife who took care of the family while Richard was out to sea or between bases. Joyce also worked various other jobs over the years at Frito Lay in Beloit, she worked at Joe Crocker Moving Company and elementary schools between towns they lived in over the years.
Joyce is survived by her 3 children: Debra (Jeff) Thompson, Rick (Lisa) Josephson and Stan (Vicki) Josephson; 8 grandchildren, Charlene Thompson (Brandon), Samantha (Brandon) White, Marie (Mike) Wyman, Sara Hollis (Mike), Toni Josephson, Elaina Josephson, Patrick Josephson (Polly) and Stefanie (Jake) Hemenway; 9 great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Elaine Dickerson, Nancy (Ray) Harris, Marilyn Junge and Benny (Nancy) Gass and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard on September 8, 2023, a granddaughter, Amanda Thompson, sisters Janet Lund, Carolyn Collins and Phyllis Laughlin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in her memory.
A memorial visitation will be held at the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead, WI on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Cremation rites have been accorded and Richard and Joyce will be buried together at a later date at the Highland Memorial Gardens in Madison.
