BELOIT – Julia A. Gustafson, 78, of Beloit, Wis., died Wednesday, Aug.26, 2015 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 27, 1937 in DeKalb, Ill., the daughter of Orville and Violet (Mace) Halverson. Julie married Wallace “Pete” Gustafson on Jan. 2, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in DeKalb. She graduated Belvidere High School, class of 1955. Julie completed her education at Rockford Memorial School of Nursing. She worked for many years at Beloit Memorial Hospital in the ER and OR until her retirement. Julie was a longtime member of Redeemer Covenant Church and active with the Covenant Women. She enjoyed travel, music and gospel quartets. Julie was particularly proud of her family and her Norwegian Heritage. Julie loved Jesus and knew that Jesus loved her. She was grateful for her life’s blessings, which showed in her service to Him. She is survived by her husband, Pete, her two children, Lora (Carl) Plude and Mitchell (Deborah) and their daughter, Anna; her two sisters, Janet Engstom and Jeanne (Bill) Ricker and two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Christine and Robert Anderson and Jean Gustafson; numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers in law and one sister-in-law, David Gustafson, John and Gladys Gustafson and Tom Engstrom. The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Regional Hospice and the Special Care nursing staff at Beloit Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they gave Julie. A Visitation for Julie took place on Sunday, Aug. 30, in the Redeemer Evangelical Covenant Church, 2500 Prairie Ave., Beloit, Wis. A Memorial Celebration Service will be held Sunday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. also at Redeemer Evangelical Covenant Church. Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Covenant Church or Beloit Regional Hospice.
