LaVerne Hintzman-September 3, 1930 – December 4, 2024

LaVerne Hintzman, age 94 of Brodhead, passed away on December 4, 2024.

LaVerne grew up on the family farm West of Brodhead in Decatur Township, which he farmed for 70 years.

LaVerne was a member of the Brodhead United Methodist Church, Missouri Valley Antique Wrench Club, Sparkplug Collectors of America, Two Cylinder Club, Cast Iron Seat Collectors and several other collector organizations. He served on the Green County Drainage Board for thirty years.

LaVerne was an antique collector that also restored gas engines and tractors. He enjoyed showing them at thresherees and at local parades and events. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending the day on the lake. In later years, he discovered gardening and had fun sharing the produce with friends. He especially enjoyed visits from friends, neighbors and family.

LaVerne married Arleen Young on April 9, 1954. They had three daughters: Judy Hintzman, Oregon, WI; Sue Hintzman-Johnson (Bob Johnson), Belleville, WI; Mary Hintzman (Chuck Williams), Oregon, WI.

LaVerne is survived by his three daughters; three grandchildren: Mitchell LaVerne Hintzman Johnson, Dean (Ruth) Williams, and Linda (Dan) Kunz; and four great grandchildren. He is further survived by brother-in-law Virgil Deininger and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arleen; sister Beverly Deininger and brother Bobby Hintzman; sister-in-law Pat Hintzman.

LaVerne was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Kelch Aviation Museum in Brodhead on Saturday, January 11th, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
