Local boy afflicted by rare disease receives check for $6,000

A successful pig roast was among fundraisers held Sept. 30 for Brock Scarpetta, who has Batten’s disease. National Mutual Benefit, a fraternal benefit society, matched up to $2,500 of the money raised, which yielded a check in the amount of $6,055, presented by National Mutual Benefit Branch #101 to Brock and his family.
