Marian Katherine Bliss, 90, died Oct. 18, 2021 at the Alden Estates Nursing Home in Jefferson.

Marian was born on Dec. 7, 1930 in Beloit, to Frank and Florence (Drews) Wolf. She was raised in Avon Township at the family store and farm. She enjoyed gardening and had a paper route with her sister Darlene until they were both into their 80s.

Marian would take her grandchildren on the route and “bop them” on their heads if they fell asleep. She loved road trips with her sister down every back road in Wisconsin. She never had trouble telling you what was on her mind and always stuck to her guns. Everyone knew to behave when she went for her broom.

Marian is survived by her sister, Darlene Buerkle; two sons, Paul and Bradley Lucas; two daughters, Linda Bliss and Renee Kinney; step sons, Carey Clayton and Christopher Bliss; a step daughter, Cathy Bliss; 26 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and 19 great, great grandchildren.

Marian is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Marv, David and Bob Wolf; her husband, Oscar Lucas in 1973 and her second husband, Gene Bliss in 1989; a son, William Lucas; a daughter, Jackie Kinney; a step son, Craig Bliss; a grandson, Lee Furlough; and two great grandchildren, Amiracle and Dreama.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in her memory. Funeral services will be held at the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m.
