Mary E. (Probaska) Haines, 78
FRIENDSHIP, Wis. – Mary Elizabeth (Prohaska) Haines, a long-time resident of Friendship, Wis. and Clinton, Wis., went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Agrace Hospice Center after a long illness. She celebrated her 78th birthday surrounded by family.
Mary was born on April 17, 1938 to the late Edward and Florence (Knesting) Prohaska. She was united in marriage to her loving and devoted Husband Bernard Haines on June 22, 1957 in Eastman, Wisconsin.
They resided in Eastman where their union was blessed with four children whom she loved and adored. Mary and Bernard moved to Minnesota for a short time before residing in Clinton, Wisconsin. They moved to Friendship, Wis. after Bernard retired from Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, Ill.
Mary’s first priority was encouraging and supporting her husband and raising her children. She was also very active in the Clinton community. She worked as a secretary for local businesses including Gilbank Construction Company.
She was involved in the St. Stephens Catholic Community cooking for many fundraisers, cleaning the church, singing in the choir, teaching catechism as well as being a member on the altar society.
Mary also enjoyed sewing, scrabble, card games, bowling and just socializing with others. Most weekends were spent with extended family creating lasting bonds and many memories. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Mary will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bernard Haines, her son Jeffery (Katrina) Haines, her daughters Lani (Donald) Fridley, Diane Haines, Trudy (Scott) Miller, her cherished grandchildren Jamie and Christian Fridley; her sister Irene Morovits and brother James Prohaska, sister-in-law to Ruby (Haines) Hay, Ida (Haines) Ward, Terry (Sherry) Haines, Arthur (Sandy) Haines and Darlene (Chris) Girton.
She was also Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by Edward Prohaska (father), Frank Becwar (step-father) and Florence Becwar (mother), Clara & Herbert Haines, Hogie& Ruth (Haines) Hogan, Linda (Haines) & Gordon McCullick, Tom & Joyce Haines, and Harley Haines.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Necedah’s St. Francis Catholic Church, 2001 S. Main St., Necedah, WI 54646 on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Visitation with the family will begin at 11 a.m. to be followed by a funeral mass and luncheon.
