Mistakes prove costly for Brodhead-Juda baseball

BRODHEAD — A couple of defensive mistakes from Brodhead-Juda and timely hitting by Parkview propelled the Vikings to a 4-1 Rock Valley south victory over Brodhead-Juda last Tuesday.
The Vikings took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Parkview leadoff hitter Aaron Hatlevig worked a walk to lead off the inning. A hit-by-pitch and sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third with one out. Carter Landis then laced an RBI single to put Parkview up. Brodhead-Juda starter Matt Schmitt retired the next two Vikings to get out of the jam and limit the damage.
The Cardinals wasted no time getting that run back in the bottom half of the inning. Skyler Stuckey ripped a base hit and stole second base with one out. Moments later, Layne Millard hammered an RBI double to tie the game at one. Pick up this week’s print edition for full story……
