Nancy Joanne Young, 75, died on January 3, 2022 at Monroe Clinic Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 26, 1946 in Aledo, Illinois, to the late Hoyt and Ruth (Regenold) Nichols.

When she was younger she moved and lived in Arkansas for several years before moving to Wisconsin, where she met her husband.

She married Robert Young on June 15, 1968 in Janesville.

She loved tending to her garden and her flowers, bird watching, doing needle point and she taught herself to knit and make blankets for all the family.

She also enjoyed listening to country music, singing and teaching the grandkids and playing “500” with them. But most of all, she enjoyed helping to raise and babysit for all of her grandchildren. She loved to spend time with all of her family.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Young; a daughter, Penny (Steve) Mahlkuch; five grandchildren, Bobbie (Adam) Wurster, Daniel and Jacob Mahlkuch and Dustin and Tyson Young; two great grandchildren, Cohen and Dalton Wurster; three brothers; three sisters; a special niece, Cindy Galston and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by one son, Hoyt Young in 2000, three sisters and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family.

Memorial services and visitation were held at the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead Jan. 8, 2022.

Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery.
