Philip Paul Vigdahl, 90, of Orfordville, died peacefully of pancreatic
cancer on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Golden Years Assisted Living,
Walworth, Wisconsin.
Phil was born on April 3, 1935, the son of Arthur and Helga (Burtness)
Vigdahl on the family farm in Plymouth Township. He graduated from
Orfordville High School in 1953. He married Janice Pearson on June 7,
1958 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Beloit, Wisconsin. Phil worked at
General Motors as an electrician for 47 years, retiring in April 2000. He
was a proud member of United Auto Workers Local 95.
Phil was an avid supporter of his daughters’ and grandchildrens’ athletics
and their coaching. Phil and Janice enjoyed traveling. He was an active
member of the Orfordville Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; Janice; daughter; Cathie, and daughter Laurie
(Tim) Collins, Walworth, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Kristin Collins
(fiance, Jaron Boggs),Yuma, Arizona and Kyle (Taylor) Collins, New
London, WI; and first great-granddaughter, Anna Sennett Collins, born
June 13, 2025; foreign exchange student 1980-1981: Dolo Garrido Garrido
(Enrique Ruiz) of Granada, Spain and their daughters Carmen and Rosa.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen and an infant
daughter born an angel in 1959.
Funeral services will be held at Orfordville Lutheran Church, Orfordville,
with Pastor Tom Kreis officiating on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A
visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until the time of
services on Friday. Interment will be in the Orfordville Lutheran Cemetery
with additional cremains at ancestral farm in Norway.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being
established for Orfordville Lutheran Cemetery or Scleroderma
Foundation.
