Brodhead – Phyllis A. Pickett, age 94, passed away on January 20, 2025, at New Glarus Home. She was born January 13, 1931, in Brooklyn, WI to Phillip and Mary (Bartlett) Kauk. She went to Norwegian School in 1944. Phyllis walked across the Goetz Theater for graduation. She graduated from Albany High School in 1948. On May 18,1951 she married Glenn E Pickett in Texas.
Phyllis worked for Albany Farm Coop, Hellands Locker in Juda, the city of Monroe, babysitting, and was secretary for Juda Sanitary District. She was involved in PTO and band as an officer, she received a certificate of recognition for older workers in May of 1996.
Phyllis is survived by her five children; Diann (Terry) Meythaler of Arkansas, Rita (Jeff) Jubie, Donna (Dan) Wiesenberg of Brodhead, Roger Pickett, Dickeyville, WI, and Don Pickett Windsor, WI and raised a granddaughter, Stephanie Pickett, Sister; Jean (Paul) Clark, sister-in-law; Margaret Kauk, Albany, WI. 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Glenn in 1983, daughter; Cheryl Pickett, sons; Darrell Pickett and Randall Pickett, grandson; Scott Risum, brothers; P. John Kauk and Richard Kauk, sister; Kathryn (David) Peterson, sister-in-law Kathy Kauk, stepfather; Herbert Stricker, stepsister; Margaret Stricker, In laws Bernard and Margaret Pickett.
A funeral service will be held at DL Newcomer Funeral Home, 1105 East 9th Ave, Brodhead, WI, 53520 on January 25, 2025, at 12:00 pm. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service. A burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, immediately following the service.
A special thank you to the 400-unit workers at New Glarus Home for their loving care of Phyllis. Also, to Maribeth Schwartzlow for all her help and affection towards Phyllis.
